Hiya!
I decided to add a blog to my site!! The thing is, I have been in England for five months! If you follow me on social media you pretty much are caught up. However, I'll give you the cliff-notes here.
22 September 2021: my visa FINALLY arrives back to me from New York. The whole process was a literal nightmare. I really hope it is easier when I do the next visa (highly doubtful)
25 September 2022: 12pm. Left Wilmington, Delaware for the final time. Well for seeable future. Got driven to JFK airport for the much anticipated one way flight to England. The driven took forever but we made it.
26 September 2021: Landed at Heathrow Airport 6:30am BST. Surprisingly simple! Flew by customs with E-Scanners (fancy! but I wanted my stamp!!!!) got to my flat in East London (an hour from Heathrow) by quarter to 8am. Shout out to my agent for not only coming to hand over the keys on Sunday but helped bring the luggage up to my third floor flat (no elevator)
27 September 2021: Masters Degree commences!!!! I met majority of my cohort that day! Jetlagged but got through orientation. The journey at Central Film School begins.
My amazing parents stayed until 2 October 2021 and pretty much got me settled whilst I sat in my room doing uni things. I seriously couldn't thank them enough!! We did all the big touristy things the day before they left (1 October 2021) It truly was a blast!
School was a lot. I wrote and directed a short film titled "Alone"(2021) Watch Here ----> https://youtu.be/tqNio4RgVhc I got assessed on that on 24 November 2021 (i got second class merit)
I saw my favourite musical Les Miserables on 5 November 2021 greatest night EVER!!! Thank you to my mate Adam :) Y'all I cried with the first notes at curtain up. On 6 November 2021, I saw Brentford Vs Norwich. Norwich won. I don't know how. Once again, thanks Adam!!
Christmas break found me roaming London and falling in love with the city I always said I'd never move too. I saw Heathers the Musical on 22 December 2021 and IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. So beautiful my view count as of 6 March 2022 is six......No Shame!!! I went to the British Film Institute and saw the remastered 4K version of my favourite film directed by Mike Leigh titled "Naked" (1993). That followed with a brief Q&A and Dani being in literal heaven.
Let's fast forward to the present. its 20:30 as I write this. I am specialising in Cinematography and will be on five of ten graduation films. I am the happiest I have ever been!! This move was the best thing I could've done for myself. I have a good group of friends, I am doing social media work for uni, I landed an internship and possibly another one for this summer. All I can do is take it one day at a time and allow God to keep ahold of the wheel.
Thats all for now! Thank you for sticking around!
-Dani xx
